What is Nature-Based Pediatric Occupational Therapy?
It is individualized occupational therapy that intentionally uses outdoor environments, movement, play, and meaningful real-world activities to support participation in everyday life. Activities and settings are selected through functional goals, professional judgment, family priorities, individual needs, and safety.
What does family-centered support mean at Novel Heights?
It means listening without blame, building around the family’s values and capacity, choosing practical next steps, and making sure support connects with the life the child and family are actually living.
How are parents and caregivers involved?
Parents and caregivers bring essential insight about routines, strengths, priorities, and participation across everyday settings. Novel Heights will use that knowledge alongside professional judgment to shape goals and practical support. Family partnership does not mean asking parents to become therapists or complete an unrealistic list of assignments.
What makes the Nature-Based OT approach different?
Novel Heights intentionally uses natural, outdoor, community, and real-world environments when they support a child’s goals, access, safety, and participation. The service remains skilled, individualized, goal-directed occupational therapy—not simply outdoor play.
Where will Nature-Based OT services take place?
Service settings will be selected according to each child’s goals, access needs, safety, weather, and professional judgment. Nature-based, outdoor, community, and other appropriate environments may be used, with specific details shared directly with participating families.
Is Novel Heights currently providing individual Nature-Based OT services?
Individual Nature-Based OT begins in Fall 2026. The waitlist is open now; evaluations, clinical intake, and treatment scheduling will begin through a separate process when services become available.
How do I join the Fall 2026 waitlist?
Complete the short Nature-Based OT Waitlist form. It requests basic contact and interest information without requiring medical records or full clinical intake.
Is joining the waitlist the same as clinical intake?
No. Joining the waitlist does not establish a therapist-client relationship, confirm eligibility, reserve an appointment, or guarantee placement. A separate clinical intake and evaluation process may occur when services begin.
Will every session be outside?
Nature is central to the service model, but the exact activity and environment must fit the child’s goals, safety, access needs, and the therapist’s professional judgment. Specific settings and contingency arrangements will be selected according to goals, safety, access, weather, and professional judgment.
What happens during poor weather?
Weather and contingency decisions will prioritize safety, access, the child’s needs, and the purpose of the service. Families will receive clear procedures before services begin.
How will safety be addressed?
Environment selection, activity planning, supervision, accessibility, weather, equipment, and each child’s individual needs will be considered through professional judgment. Detailed operating and emergency procedures will be communicated before services begin.
Is Online Parent Coaching available now?
Yes. Online Parent Coaching is currently available and provides practical education and strategy-building for parents and caregivers.
Is Parent Coaching occupational therapy?
No. Parent Coaching is educational and consultative. It is not a Nature-Based OT evaluation, diagnosis, medical treatment, clinical intake, or substitute for individualized therapy when that care is needed.
What area will Novel Heights serve?
Nature-Based OT will serve Paragould and Northeast Arkansas beginning Fall 2026. Online Parent Coaching is currently offered virtually.
Are T.H.R.I.V.E. groups the same as individual Nature-Based OT?
No. T.H.R.I.V.E. groups use a separate program waitlist and are not presented as individual Nature-Based OT services.
Does joining a list guarantee a place?
No. The Nature-Based OT Waitlist and T.H.R.I.V.E. Waitlist are used for availability updates. Neither guarantees eligibility, placement, enrollment, or a specific start date.
