Begin with strengths and possibilities.
Children are more than a diagnosis, a difficult routine, or a list of skills they have not mastered yet.
Why Novel Heights Exists
Novel Heights centers Nature-Based Pediatric Occupational Therapy, practical family partnership, meaningful participation, and greater access to the outdoors.

A personal and professional vision
Dr. Kelsey Adcock, OTD, OTR/L saw the value of skilled pediatric care—and also the importance of helping children use their abilities beyond a treatment space.
The vision grew around movement, play, real environments, family insight, adaptive access, and the belief that children should have opportunities to feel capable in the places that matter to them.
Children grow through meaningful participation, and families should never have to navigate that growth alone.Meet Dr. Kelsey
Families are part of the plan
Parents see the patterns, priorities, culture, routines, and small details that cannot be understood from a single appointment.
Novel Heights is designed to bring those insights together with occupational therapy perspective, careful observation, and practical strategy.
The goal is not to hand families a perfect program. It is to build support that is useful, respectful, and realistic.

Where the vision began
The name Novel Heights first appeared in Dr. Kelsey’s 2019 doctoral capstone, Novel Heights: Adaptive Camping and Hiking Programming, completed with the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture Research and Extension.
That work connected occupational therapy, adaptive access, family education, and the outdoors. She later developed and implemented a pediatric outdoor camp, reinforcing a long-term commitment to participation, confidence, access, and belonging.
Today, that same foundation guides Nature-Based OT, Online Parent Coaching, T.H.R.I.V.E., and the separate Novel Heights Foundation vision.
What guides the work
See capability
Children are more than a diagnosis, a difficult routine, or a list of skills they have not mastered yet.
Build together
Support works better when families are heard, included, and able to connect strategies with real life.
Practice with purpose
Nature, movement, play, and challenge should serve meaningful goals rather than become the goal themselves.
